We couldn’t be more pleased with both the catio and support provided by your staff. We have such peace of mind knowing the cats can enjoy the out of doors safely!
We are not at all handy, but my husband and I successfully put together a My Own Den Petit this weekend. We received it late 2023 but had to wait a few weeks for the snow and ice to melt in our back garden. It really wasn’t too hard, and we know our cats are gonna love it.
The team at Habitat Haven was great to work with and very responsive. It took a few weeks to figure out what we wanted and how it would be configured, then waited a reasonable 4- 5 weeks and our modules shipped! When the pallet arrived, we could easily put together the various stairways and tunnels. The instructions were a little generic and some of the modules weren't quite readily aligned, but these issues were easy to overcome. I wouldn't hesitate to buy again from these folks (we already have the Purrfect Cat Fence). And the proof of success was when we let our two little boys out and they raced back and forth and love it! See the pictures.
Well I'm a 56 year old woman and I put the lions den together myself mainly because the handyman wanted about half the cost of the enclosure to install it. I didn't have enough clips to do what the instructions said...every 4th square. The tool to enclose the clips around the wire was not made for a woman's hand. It was awkward. Those were minor flaws and the design help was great. I had to do a little creative banging on the tunnel to get it right also. Ava and Vivie use it every day the weather is nice. It took me a week to complete it. I'll do it again for the backyard. The quality is very high and the enclosure is beautiful!! Thanks so much 🙏
Jen with customer service was a tremendous help! I wanted the tunnels under the eaves & a bit away from the house - if house painting needed & to keep the kitties dry - then the tunnel extended out 90 degrees. Installation went smoothly!! I will be purchasing the Lion's Den next as I still need to create the foundation and this will connect to the tunnel. Three kitties venture in and out on their own and love it - as do I ... The 4th kitty hasn't mastered the cat door yet... Can't wait til the next phase!
We have two cats, both are rescued. One of them has pretty much hidden under the blankets on the bed since her adoption. She would only come out to demand attention in the evenings. Since building our catio, she’s been out there sleeping, climbing, and playing almost all the time. She even sits in the windows of our house and watches people go by now. She is so much happier having a safe outdoor space.
If it wasn't for Don on the service team and the other helpful staff, I likely would have been afraid to order the catio. You helped me to decide what form of catio would work the best with the space I have, worked with me to ensure the dimensions were correct, and kept me informed as to the status of my order.
Now, my six skitty kitties spend hours (especially at night) going back and forth into the 48" x 48" x 36" catio which they access through a kitty door in the guest bath. It gives them outdoor time and there is room enough for a cat tree scratching post, so they can play, rest, and see all of the activity in the garden.
Since I am in a neighborhood where kitties are not supposed to run loose, this has been a great option. The catio is sturdy and well-made, and the white coating blends in beautifully with the white railing on the patio. I even added some mini lights on top of the unit to provide a little glow for the kitties during the evening hours.
Just what our cats needed. They quickly ventured out and are outside every day. Coconut sleeps in the hangtime hammock almost daily.
Pretty easy putting together if you just take your time. Top awning was quite loose, but an easy fix to tighten it up.
We have nothing but great things to say about Habitat Haven. The craftsmanship was spot-on, it was shipped securely (no damage at all), and their staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. We had already constructed two separate structures but needed to bridge the two units safely and have something that would blend into the yard. After sending our measurements and a few photos over to the Habitat email, it was decided that we needed their longest tunnel, a short tunnel and a two-step unit. They arrived in the time frame stated on the order and connected to our catio and treehouse without any major issues. I did waste a couple of clamps until I got the hang of it but not their fault...just a couple of 60-year-olds trying to balance a ladder and keep everything straight! Best piece of advice is practice on the ground with the clamps and the tool before you attempt the final connections. I have included a couple of photos showing how well it blends into the yard...so much better than a bulky wood framed structure that we had originally planned. And the tunnel is very sturdy—the one photo shows our 14# Jackson navigating the long expanse without any sway or dip at all. It is definitely an investment (freight costs were a bit of a shock) but very worth it. Photos show some of our 4 big fur kids (Ebbie, Carson, Sybil, and Jackson), a few babies we fostered this past summer and one of the spayed ferals looking on with envy!
We recently moved to a much more rural home - complete with mountain lions and other predators. Our cats have had outdoor access in the past, but I wasn't comfortable continuing that. One of our cats immediately took to the Habitat Haven and spends hours at a time in it. The other is a little slower to warm up to it, but I think she will get there! I already have plans to expand it!
Both my cats love the cat tunnels, stairs, and tower I bought from Habitat Haven and had constructed for them. Basically the cat tunnels are used like lookouts and run along the top of a 7' wooden and 6' brick wall and allows them to lie in the sun and view the world beyond. Our little female cat, who is now about 1 1/2 year old used to hop on top of my barbecue to try and see over the top of a brick wall, so to say the least she simply loves them because there was no way she could see what was on the other side, but now she can very easily. On the east side, where there is a 6' brick wall she gets to watch people come and go from a doctors office. On the south side there is a brick wall and joining wooden fence and the tunnel run along the top of both and have stairs the led up to the cat tunnels on either end and it overlooks our next door neighbors backyard and across from the brickwall and our back lane is a school yard with all kinds of activity to satisfy my cats interests. Great tunnels and stairs, great lookouts for them....and the best is that they are safe and sound in their own yard...nothing gets in and nothing gets out. I also had extra fencing put above the cat tunnels from the sister company of Habitat Haven, Purrfect Fence for that added protection. They look awesome. Thanks Habitat Haven and Purrfect Fence for that peace of mind knowing they are happy and most of all safe !!! A big shout out goes to Matt Hough for making my dream come true and designing everything for me. I couldn't have done it without you.
I'm very happy with my new catio - now my cats have a dog free space to call their own! The customer service from Habitat Haven was incredible; emails are answered very quickly and folks there are very knowledgeable about the product.
The designers at Habitat Haven made a perfect outside getaway for out two kitties, who were itching to get outside. The took to it right away and some days practically live in it. The instructions were very clear and installation was done with a minimum of fuss. The materials are amazing, and this one won't deteriorate in a year or two like so many others. Perfect!
After an initial hitch in construction, my cats and I are very happy with the enclosure Habitat Haven built for my cats. They love to lounge on the shelf which I covered with soft blankets. I added some catnip and they are in heaven.
This is a well designed and produced outdoor cat space. A real quality product, with easy access for help with assembly. It’s also attractive in the yard and so I love it as much as the cat does. I would recommend habitat haven to anyone looking for a way to let the cat outdoors without the risks of harm from local wild creatures. One of my better purchases!
Overall it is great. I don’t understand why the planks are so narrow. We secured 2 planks together so it was roomier for the cats. It’s a shame it does t come with a combination of shelves and planks. We ended up improvising. I tried to buy more but they charge over $300 for shipping. So it was cheaper for us to use a different board of our own. We would love to buy more but not if the shipping is $300 for a $10 item
Thank you for your review! All of our pre-designed catios come with standard 8' wide western red cedar boards. There are options to upgrade to 12' wide boards. We sincerely apologize if our website misquoted you for freight shipping on a small parcel order. This can happen from time to time due to the endless customization of sizes and lengths with our products. If this ever does happen again in the future, please feel free to reach out to our customer service team and we will get this fixed for you immediately.
The pricing was more than we wanted to pay, but we appreciated the set up and design options and customization to our needs, and that this is made in the USA. I'd rather support manufacturers in this country, and I expect to pay more for that level of quality. It was fairly easy to assemble, after unpacking it, which was a little more difficult. It's packed tight with good padding so nothing moves and gets bent or scratched on the delivery truck.
The staff of Habitat Haven went above and beyond helping me to decide on a design that was within our budget and to answer every question. I must confess that we bought wood locally for the flooring and cut it to the needed length. The floor boards are not from Habitat Haven but are cedar deck planking. Other self-builds we added include using the tools included with the purchase to cut an opening in the catio facing the deck door. We made our own screen insert to keep the bugs out for the cats to go in and out and close the gap between the house and deck door and the catio.
All three cats love going out first thing in the morning and having the freedom of going in and out all day, weather permitting. They beg to go out if it's not open. (They don't use the ramp, so we took it down after these pics.)
Since we just put in a new Trex deck and noticed that the bottom of the catio was scratching it, we also put a rubber mat down as seen in the pics. Not even the strongest wind (gusts over 50 mph) has moved this and it's not attached to anything.
My cats are using towers and tunnels to go from a house window box out to a Purrfect Fence enclosure. They use it 24/7, except for when it rains.
Our two kittens love their lion’s den, from the first moment that we brought them out to the den they have loved exploring and investigating the outdoors. The ordering process was excellent and easy to complete, we live in Canada and we’re very impressed with the rebated shipping into Canada.
The cats finally get to go outside. They love it and it's hard to get them to come in sometimes.
We researched quite a bit beforehand and initially considered building from scratch but could not find materials of this quality. The Habitat Haven team supported us every step of the way - they were immediately responsive to all of our many questions and gave great advice to complete the design that worked best for us. We are absolutely thrilled with the outcome - the purrfect decision for us!!
My cats love their habitat with the hammocks. It took a few weeks to acclimate but then they never looked back.
This is the best thing for animals!! The cats love it, it's a big improvement over the deer fencing we had there. We especially love the gate.
Thank you so much for all your help!!
