It's nice to know our cats can enjoy the outdoors as they wish. All of our cats are rescues, two of which were afraid to go outside as they were previously attacked by larger animals. Now they can remain safe and close to the house while enjoying the fresh air and sun. Several of them enjoy the rain as well...
The catio works as described and the customer service is very good. My only issue was damage during shipment however the unit was replaced very quickly without hassle. Habitat Haven allowed me to submit a design which they could match using their many shapes and sizes. Thank you Habitat Haven!
We have a covered patio off of our bedroom, and Habitat Haven made panels we could attach to cover the window and door openings, with a people-sized gate in the door panel so we have easy access in and out. The cats go in and out through a flap in our bedroom slider's screen. They spend a lot of time there, alone or with us.
We had difficulties with the panel sizes and condition of the first shipment we received, but Jennifer was very responsive and they sent us a new set very quickly.
My two cats are warming up slowly to the idea of being able to go outside. It’s really hot during the day now, but I think they will be fully comfortable and love it by Fall. It’s a great catio - all my friends with cats are jealous!!
My cats love this enclosure in the winter, spring, fall, and summer. I didn't think they would be satisfied with not going totally outside, but they are! I am relieved that they are safe, even if we are not home. I am in the process of ordering a custom flap for the bedroom window where the tunnel connects. I need to decide if another tunnel out the bedroom window is feasible. We occasionally have bottleneck issues with the big cats not allowing the small cats to pass by. As the song goes, "life is a highway!".
Habitat Haven gives cats the freedom to enjoy the outdoors while staying safe.
We rescued 4 feral cats from a field behind our house. Converting them from outdoor cats to indoor cats was a tough obstacle. These catios were the best compromise ever! They still get to go outside when they want and are totally safe from predators. They spend almost every day out there when the weather allows them to.
Of our 5 cats, 3 are in it daily. The one who was most resistant (Tabby) is in it all day now, except during the most extreme high temperatures (and it's been scorchingly hot here in Houston). He especially loves being able to be out after dark. Sokrates and Lil' Girl had no trouble learning the cat door. In fact, Sokrates was the first to go in and explore and do it again. Bella hasn't learned the cat door. When she asks to go out she enjoys herself. The design of our unique set up was to accommodate our senior cats, neither of which ever used it. One has already passed on, the other is 21 years old, and he's just not up to going outside. Neither of the girls (Bella or Lil' Girl) have ever explored the steps and bridge entrance to the catio (My Own Den Petit), but the boys enjoy the climbing aspect. I, with Jennifer's extraordinary help, designed our catio using HH's component parts: 3 straight tunnels of varying lengths, one 4-step stairs straight, and My Own Den Petit. The large cat flap door from Cat Flap Fever, Inc., fits perfectly with HH's entry tunnel. The other tunnels and steps connect to the entry tunnel and to the My Petit Den on their opposite ends. Our catio is designed to utilize a large bay window, which is bigger than any component parts and would have required a unique design. So, I finally figured out that a tunnel placed across the window would make a unique but suitable entrance to the catio. I hope the photos capture the layout.
We purchased two separate times. First was to get us started- 3 enclosures and 4 tunnels. Then, we did a custom enclosure to go around a tree. We fabricated a roof because the area wasn't square. If you are on the fence about Habitat Haven, it is 100% worth the investment. We hope to add more in the future!
We love how our catio looks and how sturdy it is. More importantly, our 14 year old cats love it. They spend most of the day lounging inside or watching the birds at a nearby feeder.
My cats love their Habitat Haven catio!
I planted a tree and some vines around it so birds and insects would be attracted to my backyard and my two youngest cats spend hours on the shelves chilling and watching anything that moves.
The catio turned out to be the best possible enrichment!
Our cats Rosie and Bailey enjoy the morning watch the birds fly over. They come outside when they want and enjoy being outside with us. Long, sunny cat naps are a daily event. We love the cat den as a place we can enter to give them a good brushing without having the hair all over the house. I cant imagine not having this cat habitat for our fur babies.
After Sadie has her breakfast she cannot wait to go into the catio each morning. She spends most of her day in it. She is out there rain, snow or sunshine. She jumps and climbs from one shelf to another. It's incredible exercise for her. Then she takes a nap and I know she s safe and secure. Otis and Leah are older kitties; however, they go into their catio daily. I love the man door so I can sit with them. It is such a peace of mind for me knowing my kids get fresh air and exercise. It's an amazing experience. The ease of putting it up was so good! Wish our cats had a catio sooner, but they do know and it's a blast watching them play, nap, and enjoy the sunshine.
Looks great, sturdy and safe for our two boys. They love it and so do we!
Habitat Haven supplies a unique combination of quality materials, customer support, and community you won't find anywhere else. Trust me; I've looked -- even local manufacturers can't beat the price for the powder-coated stainless steel mesh.
The prefabricated parts like tunnels and access panels are wonderful additions and will make your project much easier to assemble.
Speaking of assembly, Habitat Haven has developed a system that is clever, very functional, and yet extremely easy to use. If you can use a pair of pliers, you can assemble your project!
Bought our catio from you during the Fall of 2020. It was erected in November 2020, and the cats have been enjoying it year round!
We originally used what we called "the catopia" for our cat. And he loved it! He would hang out in his hammock all day! We no longer have our cat so we've turned it into a chicken run outside and they are loving the fresh air! The door makes it really easy to get in a refill water! The ledges are perfect for perching too!
My boy loves to spend time outdoors in his new outdoor space!
Assembly was easy and self explanatory!
I feel happy knowing my boy can enjoy the outdoors with the family in the backyard in a safe environment!
Our four cats love their new semi outdoor space. They spend lots of time keeping track of the squirrels, chipmunks, baby rabbits, and birds.
Cats enjoy it, especially at night to check out all the visiting critters.
My two Boys are indoor cats, and now they have been enjoying their time outside in the sun for almost three months now. They really love it. I'm never sure which shelf I will find was their choice for the nap each day. They are protected and safe and very happy, and Mom does not worry about wildlife pestering them when we are not home. Habitat Haven and Matt made the process to design the tunnel and get the measurements super easy. The catio arrived early, and the local installer, Robby, did a great job getting it in within a few hours. I did place a few cactus plants in front of it - just to make Mom feel better so they are not so easily visible. I live in the suburbs. My patio is pretty small, and the catio is a perfect size, and the Boys love it. Mater will stand by the little door to it in the morning waiting for me to open the door some days. I cannot recommend Habitat Haven enough. Thank you!
Our outdoor cat habitat was done in two phases about a year apart. The first was a "tower" that attached to an exterior stucco wall and slid up next to a side opening in our garden window. We weren't sure about the attachment method, meshing with the existing window, spacing of shelves, exterior access, and accommodation for expansion (that is, if our picky cats actually liked it). After numerous emails (and a couple of phone calls) designing and re-designing the structure we clicked the purchase button. Within a couple of weeks a large box arrived and few hours later our careful measurements and discussions clearly paid off. The structure fit perfectly and our cats immediately explored the new space. The second phase was initiated about a year later. Again, after several emails the design of the extending "tunnel" was refined, and we finalized our purchase. Less than a week later it arrived in two boxes, which we were able to install in a few hours. The cats (Rosie and Chico) moved in right away. As before, the effort spent in measuring and planning paid off. In both phases our original designs were analyzed and simplified by Matt Hough the Habitat Haven "Customer Experience Guru." His help was invaluable and matched only by the quality of construction. It was expensive (particularly shipping) but well-worth it.
It's been a year and a pretty big project. We custom ordered our catio to fit in-line with our deck & shed and house. I wanted plenty of room for our 4 cats to explore, play or nap.
We only had the window unit installed when the first kitty found the cat door and learned about the catio. She was amazed. The others soon followed her out. Their favorite place is the tunnel bridge. (We may need to install a bypass, as they LOVE to block each other from going through 🤣)
Assembly and installation isn't 'hard', but a 2nd set of hands is helpful. I also recommend building a platform for the enclosures to rest on if your ground is not level.
Great product! Great customer service! Thanks, HH!
I Bought 2 corner Hammocks for the Catio. The Smaller cat loves them, my bigger cat is 20 LBS, he doesn't seem to like them. The Hammocks are very well made out of a type of canvas material.
We (2 humans & 3 cats) downsized to 240 square feet, plus lofts and cat walks, so attaching an additional 46 square feet of outside space was really great for the cats. They love watching birds and bugs and I love how sturdy and safe Habitat Haven’s Lion’s Den is. Thank you!
