We absolutely love the new catio! It took my husband and step son a whole day to put together but they took their time to make sure it was done correctly. The materials are all high quality. The cats are really enjoying spending lots of time in it and our most active kitty even seems a little more relaxed! :)
When we opened the tower packaging we noticed the top of the tower had been damaged in transit. So I called Habitat Haven and spoke with Matt, who was very helpful and said they would send a new top to replace the damaged part. We received the part a few days later. This company’s customer service is outstanding!
I purchased the cat tunnel to connect the main house to the cabana. The cat love it. Everyone who comes over comments and just marvles about how cool it is.
I purchased this unit second hand off craigslist for the steal of the century. The original owners had it for over 8 years outside and unprotected in all weather here in the mid-atlantic. I came along and disassembled and reassembled in my carport. The cats love it and am now starting cat-door training. We even have a few neighbor cats come to check it out and scratch their heads over it. I needed some additional parts for the shelving and the customer service and shipping was excellent. I highly recommend this company for both lasting product and continuing service.
My F1 Savannah cat used to run away when we were opening the door. We lost him for a several days a couple of times. Now both of my cats can enjoy their outdoor space whenever they want. I had great cooperation from the guru at Habitat Haven to help me design a solution that would be cost effective for me. The material is good quality and everything came up precut with a set of tools to facilitate the installation.
My two cats just love their outdoor enclosure. They wait by the window until it is opened each day, and they are in and out all day long, basking in the sun, watching the bugs and birds, exploring plants, and having a blast. I have added scratching posts, hammocks, hanging toys and stairs, which they all love. But mostly they love the tunnels. I don't know what it is about the tunnels, but make sure you get at least 2!! So happy with this purchase! It is a well made product. You need at least 2 people to build it, 4 is even better. Ours was a tight fit between house and wall, which made it tricky, but very sturdy when finished.
I have 6 cats and 3 catios. All of the cats spend many hours a day in them. The cats had all been abandoned and lived outside on their own for several years. When I gave them a home they were very happy and didn’t want to go back outside.
But when I bought the catios and attached them my house and 2 other buildings on my property, the cats were thrilled to be able to go safely outside and come back in whenever they wanted. People who walk by my house will often wave at the cats and come over to talk to them. Some bring their dogs over to have a chat with the cats. The cats feel very safe inside the catios and like to have people and dogs stop by to see them.
The cations have really improved their quality of life.
I highly recommend Habitat Haven catios. They are a great company to work with from start to finish. I emailed with questions and they were promptly answered. After giving them the dimensions and sending a photo, they gave me ideas and made some custom adjustments to the catio plans. It arrived with everything I needed, good instructions and was easy to assemble. A quality product. Thank you for giving my kitty, Lady Grey, a comfortable space to get outside and watch the world.
My cats ADORE their enclosure, they spend their days outtside!!! having all rescues they always want to go outside and this options makes them happy and gives me piece of mind!!!
However building it was a but harder than i expected. I consider myself pretty handy but i had help and goof thing i did! having someone with construction experience made it a lot easier but besides that nothing bad to say at all, even the process of purchasing what great service!!! love ittt!!! my cats thank you Habitat Haven!
We have the build-your-own 3-sided enclosure with floor (46x92x84), which is located on our deck in the mountains of the Southwest in front of a large window with an installed cat door for access. Habitat Haven was very helpful answering questions and offering options during the “design phase” of our project. The product is quite sturdy and assembled readily. We ran across a couple of small production issues (with a hinge or a bracket) which Habitat Haven promptly addressed. We have “customized” our catio a bit - installing carpet tiles on the cedar shelving and Astroturf over the cedar flooring. We also added more grommets and zip-ties to secure the awning more tightly, since it’s often a bit breezy here. Two of our cats spend a significant part of their days in the “playroom” to watch the local birds and other creatures or to stretch out in the hammock or on a shelf and bask in the sun. The occasional hummingbird or bushtit has been foolish enough to alight on the mesh, but all have escaped unscathed so far. We also have some deck furniture set up near the catio, so they can feel more a part of our outdoor activities. We do bring everyone in after dark, however, since we have field mice, raccoons, coyotes, foxes, and more in the area. A few pictures attached.
The cats are happy campers! They hop in and out of their new window like it has always been there. I put a piece of Sherpa on the “floor.” Just the right touch. They take naps out there and boy is it great for bird watching. I don’t have to worry about them out there! Safe as can be! Habitat Haven is truly the best! Genius at building a flawless structure. And the Customer Service is over the top!!!!! With the custom “wall” for the cat enclosure, the cat runs leading out of the enclosure and now the new cat window enclosure-I am out of projects! Love ❤️ you guys. Thank you!!
As a California veterinarian, I routinely see how the outdoor cat population are harmed by the four "C"s (cars, coyotes, other cats (disease) and cruelty) - however, like every cat mom, I want my kitties to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. So, wherever I lived, I used to build a catio. In the past, I would build them from scratch with wood, chicken wire, and other various materials - it was always very time consuming! This last time, I decided to try the Habitat Haven module system & I am so happy I did. I highly recommend their product.
I first saw their product at a "pet fair" several years ago - I thought it was sturdy and well made...and I even remember asking them if they had experience in California (or any natural coyote regions) - which they did. At the time, I didn't personally need a new catio, but over time I have mentioned them to several of my clients. Well finally, my catio needed replacement. (The problem with most wood catios is dryrot and termites; (note, using cedar alone can get very expensive; and pressure treated wood is toxic)) - so I finally made the leap and bought from Habitat Haven. (By the way, I did check out other products, but I felt theirs' was the most secure)
Like I said, I am so happy I did - not only is it solidly sturdy and strong, but it has a much cleaner look than my previous catios. Plus, the instructions were well written and easy to understand (I had never worked with metal mesh before - so I was surprised by how easy it was. It only took me 4 days to fully install (with shelves) two window boxes and a custom 8' four-sided enclosure).
If there was any advice I could provide (and this is not a negative) it would be....if you plan to cut more than one opening - the wire cutters are good, but....let's just say, I was not patient enough...so I went to a Dremel tool pretty quickly. Otherwise, all the hand tools worked great.
I didn't need to reach out to their customer service department during installation, but I have reached out to them several times since (I am now expanding my catio). Their customer service always responds quickly and answers my questions fully. (AJ is awesome!) I only mention this because even if you have questions during installation - they are very responsive and I feel confident recommending both their product and service.
I'm so pleased with the My Own Den. But not as pleased as the cats! Fresh air and sunshine while staying safe makes for a higher quality of life for the kitties. So glad I found your website! Thank you!
Here’s our catio attached to our fifth wheel trailer. Thanks to you and your team!
When I received the pallet we noticed about 6 of the boards were cracked/split. AJ immediately replaced them and we got ready to put together the Catio. I had ordered the door on the left side but it came with the door on the right side. Luckily the door swing fit where we wanted to install it. Overall it is well made and the cats love it. I have had many compliments and several friends asking about your company.
Hi Jo Anne! We are so glad to hear you are happy with your experience overall! Also, always great to hear that the new residents love it! Regarding the door placement, this is seemingly just a bit of confusion on assembly. Your catio features a reversible design which allows for human entry door placement on either side of the catio. By simply reversing the panels during assembly, the human entry door would have been on the side you had intended. Luckily, it seems that it worked out for the best but if you wanted to disassemble and reconfigure it technically would be possible to switch the door position! Please get in touch with us directly if you would like to review this in more detail!
Thank goodness I found Habitat Haven and friends to help me design and install what has turned out to be a wonderful solution to a new neighbor ( who was not feline friendly) . My 5 rescues came from the wooded area behind my yard and were indoor/outdoor cats for years! Last summer I was forced to find a solution that allow them fresh air and exercise but still kept them safe.
I built a tunnel from a cat door that crosses the yard to get the kitties out to the two enclosures. There are 2 tunnels connecting the enclosures which are built straddling a healthy wisteria. I now have a garden of ferns, mosses and morning glory vines added so it is as natural an area possible. Inside there is room for my chair as well as their little hut with cushioned sleeping area. Sod did not take so they now have foam scratch pads on both floors.
These folks will help you with any design that fits your needs. We bought an RV so we could enjoy vacations with our cats in tow. I can't say they love the RV as much as we do, but they are not being boarded and that's something that I love. We wanted to give them extra space and an opportunity to go outside without potential escape or harm. This catio does all that. Habitat Haven helped us design it so it is portable and sturdy without having to compromise the exterior of the RV. Once we stop and set up the catio they are quick to come out and enjoy the fresh air. And I get to be the crazy cat lady of the RV parks. Folks stop to ask about it all the time. Thanks Habitat Haven!
Ending up at an animal shelter can be very stressful for many cats. The catio is a place where they can relax, enjoy the sun and watch the world, safely. It brings a calmness and joy to the kitties waiting to go to a forever home.
Thanks so much from Animal Adoptions of Flamborough!
After doing lots of catio research, I decided on this one because it fit our space and vision so well, and can be disassembled and relocated. My three girls took to it immediately! They now have more vertical space, can sunbathe, feel the breeze, and watch the birds, bees, and butterflies in our pollinator garden, rain or shine. They are harness trained so get walks in the garden, but now they love being able to come and go through the cat door at their own leisure. My siamese mix likes to be up on the top shelf, even during rainstorms! I have to call them back in at night by shaking a treat bag through the window cat door.
This catio is very well made, and Habitat Haven has prompt customer service. I feel confident my cats are safe in their catio, and I even screened it in temporarily, and will keep the screening up through the end of summer. I wanted to reduce mosquito bite exposure (we are in Texas), even though they are on heartworm prevention. I used a fifty foot roll of 48 inch wide screening, so it was fairly easy to measure and cut. I overlapped the corners, and secured using binder clips. I thought it might take away from the polished look of the catio, but visibility from inside is quite good, and there are no gaps, even though it took extra time around the door and window to secure it. Next I'll be adding a natural pecan tree limb (gifted by my neighbor) to secure inside horizontally for some extra scratching and climbing. I will rotate beds, and baskets for enrichment, and according to the weather.
This catio has been a game changer in my cats' world, and I am so grateful for the joy it has brought us! We might even expand it out to the garden in the future. Thanks so much!
Took the kitties a bit to trust going out but they are figuring it out. The toys helped. Very easy to assemble. Up in 2 days.
We got two Russian Blue kittens at the beginning of the year and set up their cat walk petit in March. Assembly was very straightforward and everything came well packed with easy instructions.
Since then, the girls have been spending all of their time in their new outdoor space.
Managed to get the catio installed….and the cats love it, as you can see from the photos.

We just have to say, we are so impressed by this cage. Can’t thank you enough. From the design, to the materials, down to the last piece of hardware, everything was perfect. It took us a couple days to build a platform, assemble and install everything.
We love our tunnel and enclosure! Every time someone comes over they want to know where we got the setup. They come out of a cat door and into the tunnel that leads the length of the house to the enclosure by our patio. They each have a hammock and spend most days in them! Putting it together also gave our son a productive project during early days of quarantine!
My cats love their Catio! I installed a cat door so they can go in and out whenever they want too! It has fulfilled their desire to be outside in a safe way. I recommend this to all cat owners!
