It's nice to know our cats can enjoy the outdoors as they wish. All of our cats are rescues, two of which were afraid to go outside as they were previously attacked by larger animals. Now they can remain safe and close to the house while enjoying the fresh air and sun. Several of them enjoy the rain as well...
The catio works as described and the customer service is very good. My only issue was damage during shipment however the unit was replaced very quickly without hassle. Habitat Haven allowed me to submit a design which they could match using their many shapes and sizes. Thank you Habitat Haven!
We have a covered patio off of our bedroom, and Habitat Haven made panels we could attach to cover the window and door openings, with a people-sized gate in the door panel so we have easy access in and out. The cats go in and out through a flap in our bedroom slider's screen. They spend a lot of time there, alone or with us.
We had difficulties with the panel sizes and condition of the first shipment we received, but Jennifer was very responsive and they sent us a new set very quickly.
My two cats are warming up slowly to the idea of being able to go outside. It’s really hot during the day now, but I think they will be fully comfortable and love it by Fall. It’s a great catio - all my friends with cats are jealous!!
My cats love this enclosure in the winter, spring, fall, and summer. I didn't think they would be satisfied with not going totally outside, but they are! I am relieved that they are safe, even if we are not home. I am in the process of ordering a custom flap for the bedroom window where the tunnel connects. I need to decide if another tunnel out the bedroom window is feasible. We occasionally have bottleneck issues with the big cats not allowing the small cats to pass by. As the song goes, "life is a highway!".
Habitat Haven gives cats the freedom to enjoy the outdoors while staying safe.
We rescued 4 feral cats from a field behind our house. Converting them from outdoor cats to indoor cats was a tough obstacle. These catios were the best compromise ever! They still get to go outside when they want and are totally safe from predators. They spend almost every day out there when the weather allows them to.
Of our 5 cats, 3 are in it daily. The one who was most resistant (Tabby) is in it all day now, except during the most extreme high temperatures (and it's been scorchingly hot here in Houston). He especially loves being able to be out after dark. Sokrates and Lil' Girl had no trouble learning the cat door. In fact, Sokrates was the first to go in and explore and do it again. Bella hasn't learned the cat door. When she asks to go out she enjoys herself. The design of our unique set up was to accommodate our senior cats, neither of which ever used it. One has already passed on, the other is 21 years old, and he's just not up to going outside. Neither of the girls (Bella or Lil' Girl) have ever explored the steps and bridge entrance to the catio (My Own Den Petit), but the boys enjoy the climbing aspect. I, with Jennifer's extraordinary help, designed our catio using HH's component parts: 3 straight tunnels of varying lengths, one 4-step stairs straight, and My Own Den Petit. The large cat flap door from Cat Flap Fever, Inc., fits perfectly with HH's entry tunnel. The other tunnels and steps connect to the entry tunnel and to the My Petit Den on their opposite ends. Our catio is designed to utilize a large bay window, which is bigger than any component parts and would have required a unique design. So, I finally figured out that a tunnel placed across the window would make a unique but suitable entrance to the catio. I hope the photos capture the layout.
