Both styles of insert are built from durable 3/8" thick polycarbonate for added strength and stability. Standard inserts are made from a 13" x 60" polycarbonate sheet, while inserts with a tunnel attachment are made from a larger 18" x 60" polycarbonate sheet. Each insert includes a 4-way locking pet door, two types of weather-stripping for a secure seal, and a custom fit to help keep out bugs, drafts, and the elements while giving your cat easy access to their outdoor enclosure.

All inserts will be constructed with 3/8” polycarbonate which is more rigid and doesn’t flex as much during installation compared to thinner 1/4" polycarbonate.

• Dimensions: Standard inserts without a tunnel attachment measure 13" high for Horizontal Inserts and 13" wide for Vertical Inserts. Inserts with a tunnel attachment measure 18" high for Horizontal Inserts and 18" wide for Vertical Inserts to provide the additional space needed for the tunnel connection.
  
  
• Cat Door Sizes: We use a standard-sized pet door designed for cats up to 14" shoulder height (maximum approximately 16-20 lbs). Customizations can be made to the insert and pet door size, and charges may apply.
  
  
  • Included Cat Door has an overall size of 9-1/4"W x 10”H with a 7"W x 7"H Cat Flap. 
    
    
• Tunnel Connection Option: If you are adding a tunnel connection, the window insert will be 18" height and have a Large Cat Door pre-installed with the Tunnel Connection around it. 
  
  
  • The included tunnel length is 4", but we can provide an attached tunnel up to 12". Contact us for pricing on customized options!
    

• Polycarbonate: For window inserts up to 60" width inserts we use 3/8” thick clear polycarbonate. For widths over 60" we custom order polycarbonate or PVC which increases lead times and price. Other plastics are available to custom quote as needed, please Contact Us to discuss the best material for your use-case!

• To get an accurate measurement for your window cat door insert, simply measure the width of opening when your window is in the up position, and then add 1/2" to that measurement. See images below for reference, or watch THIS TUTORIAL VIDEO.
  

1. Fully open the window you'd like to use.
2. Using a measuring tape, measure the interior width of the opening only (this is the distance between the window tracks - do not include the depth of either track in your measurement).
3. Add 1/2" to that measurement. Input this number into the "Insert Width" field when ordering.
4. You can also measure the total height of the opening to confirm the height of the insert you select will fit (the height of the insert should be less than the height of the opening).

• For example: If your window opening is 30" wide, you will add 1/2" to this for a Window Width of 30-1/2". Input this number into the "Insert Width" field when ordering. Foam weather stripping is included and can be added to the outside edge of the insert, which creates a weather-proof seal between the cat door insert and the window opening and provides a tighter fit in the tracks. 
  
   
  

• To get an accurate measurement for your vertical window cat door insert, simply measure the height of your window opening plus the depth of one window track. See images below for reference

1. Fully open the window you’d like to use.
   
2. Using a measuring tape, place the tape INTO the top window track.
3. Measure down to the bottom edge of the window opening. Do not measure all the way into the bottom track
4. This measurement gives us the proper cut line and allows the insert enough space to be placed into both the top and bottom window tracks
5. Input the number into the "Window Insert Length" field when ordering.
   

• For example: If your window opening measures 36" from inside the top track to the bottom edge of the opening, you will input 36" into the “Insert Height” field when ordering. Foam weather stripping is included and can be added to the top & bottom edge of the insert, which creates a weather-proof seal between the cat door insert and the window opening and provides a tighter fit in the tracks.

For customers looking to attach a tunnel to their window cat door insert, tunnel attachments allow for a seamless transition from your home to your Habitat Haven enclosure! Tunnel attachments are installed into an 18" height polycarbonate sheet, with a custom width and pre-mounted 4" length tunnel attachment.

Longer tunnel attachments are available up to 12 inches.  Each additional two inches of tunnel over the standard 4-inch length is $20 (for example, an 8-inch tunnel attachment will add $40 to the total window insert cost). Please call or email to purchase!

PLEASE NOTE:  Tunnel Connectors are only available installed into an 18" Height polycarbonate Cat Door Window Insert. Please ensure your window can open at least 18" before purchasing.

• Each custom window insert includes the insert itself, made to the measurements provided during ordering. We also include two types of weather stripping: a .25" adhesive foam strip designed to be applied directly to the insert, and a thicker .5" foam strip that can be placed inside the window track as needed for a snugger fit and better seal.

Horizontal Window Inserts:
For best results, apply the .25" thick adhesive weather stripping to the top and bottom edges of your window insert before installation. The thicker .5" weather stripping can be placed directly inside the window track to help fill any gaps and create a tighter seal.

To install the insert, place one end of the window insert into the window track first. Then, gently push the opposite end into place until the insert is seated securely within the track. Once the insert is firmly installed, gently close your window against the insert and check the seal around all edges.

If you notice any small gaps or areas where additional sealing is needed, you can use the remaining .5" thick weather stripping along the top, bottom, or sides as needed. The included weather stripping can be adjusted and used in any combination to help create the best fit for your specific window.

Vertical Window Inserts:
For best results, apply the .25" thick adhesive weather stripping to the left and right sides of your window insert before installation. The thicker .5" weather stripping can be placed directly inside the top and bottom window tracks to help fill any gaps and create a tighter seal.

To install the insert, place the top edge of the window insert into the top window track first. Then, gently guide the bottom edge of the insert into the bottom track until the insert is seated securely. Once the insert is firmly installed, gently close your window against the insert and check the seal around all edges.

If you notice any small gaps or areas where additional sealing is needed, you can use the remaining .5" thick weather stripping along the top, bottom, or sides as needed. The included weather stripping can be adjusted and used in any combination to help create the best fit for your specific window.

If ordered individually, your insert will ship via small parcel which can take 1-5 days depending on your location (see our shipping page) in addition to fabrication time. If your window cat door insert is ordered with a catio enclosure, they will ship together (likely via freight delivery service).

Please note: Window inserts are fabricated in our facility and made to order. Lead times vary depending on order volume. Use the estimated delivery window at the top of the page to determine approximately when your insert will arrive.

Max Window Width for Stocked Polycarbonate: We stock widths up to 60" for polycarbonate, if your window is longer than 60" we can custom order your size from our distributor (either PVC or polycarbonate). Please Note: Custom sizes over 60" will have longer lead times than stocked sizes and will be subject to additional charges.
