Jen with customer service was a tremendous help! I wanted the tunnels under the eaves & a bit away from the house - if house painting needed & to keep the kitties dry - then the tunnel extended out 90 degrees. Installation went smoothly!! I will be purchasing the Lion's Den next as I still need to create the foundation and this will connect to the tunnel. Three kitties venture in and out on their own and love it - as do I ... The 4th kitty hasn't mastered the cat door yet... Can't wait til the next phase!
We have two cats, both are rescued. One of them has pretty much hidden under the blankets on the bed since her adoption. She would only come out to demand attention in the evenings. Since building our catio, she’s been out there sleeping, climbing, and playing almost all the time. She even sits in the windows of our house and watches people go by now. She is so much happier having a safe outdoor space.
If it wasn't for Don on the service team and the other helpful staff, I likely would have been afraid to order the catio. You helped me to decide what form of catio would work the best with the space I have, worked with me to ensure the dimensions were correct, and kept me informed as to the status of my order.
Now, my six skitty kitties spend hours (especially at night) going back and forth into the 48" x 48" x 36" catio which they access through a kitty door in the guest bath. It gives them outdoor time and there is room enough for a cat tree scratching post, so they can play, rest, and see all of the activity in the garden.
Since I am in a neighborhood where kitties are not supposed to run loose, this has been a great option. The catio is sturdy and well-made, and the white coating blends in beautifully with the white railing on the patio. I even added some mini lights on top of the unit to provide a little glow for the kitties during the evening hours.
Just what our cats needed. They quickly ventured out and are outside every day. Coconut sleeps in the hangtime hammock almost daily.
Pretty easy putting together if you just take your time. Top awning was quite loose, but an easy fix to tighten it up.
We have nothing but great things to say about Habitat Haven. The craftsmanship was spot-on, it was shipped securely (no damage at all), and their staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. We had already constructed two separate structures but needed to bridge the two units safely and have something that would blend into the yard. After sending our measurements and a few photos over to the Habitat email, it was decided that we needed their longest tunnel, a short tunnel and a two-step unit. They arrived in the time frame stated on the order and connected to our catio and treehouse without any major issues. I did waste a couple of clamps until I got the hang of it but not their fault...just a couple of 60-year-olds trying to balance a ladder and keep everything straight! Best piece of advice is practice on the ground with the clamps and the tool before you attempt the final connections. I have included a couple of photos showing how well it blends into the yard...so much better than a bulky wood framed structure that we had originally planned. And the tunnel is very sturdy—the one photo shows our 14# Jackson navigating the long expanse without any sway or dip at all. It is definitely an investment (freight costs were a bit of a shock) but very worth it. Photos show some of our 4 big fur kids (Ebbie, Carson, Sybil, and Jackson), a few babies we fostered this past summer and one of the spayed ferals looking on with envy!
We recently moved to a much more rural home - complete with mountain lions and other predators. Our cats have had outdoor access in the past, but I wasn't comfortable continuing that. One of our cats immediately took to the Habitat Haven and spends hours at a time in it. The other is a little slower to warm up to it, but I think she will get there! I already have plans to expand it!
Both my cats love the cat tunnels, stairs, and tower I bought from Habitat Haven and had constructed for them. Basically the cat tunnels are used like lookouts and run along the top of a 7' wooden and 6' brick wall and allows them to lie in the sun and view the world beyond. Our little female cat, who is now about 1 1/2 year old used to hop on top of my barbecue to try and see over the top of a brick wall, so to say the least she simply loves them because there was no way she could see what was on the other side, but now she can very easily. On the east side, where there is a 6' brick wall she gets to watch people come and go from a doctors office. On the south side there is a brick wall and joining wooden fence and the tunnel run along the top of both and have stairs the led up to the cat tunnels on either end and it overlooks our next door neighbors backyard and across from the brickwall and our back lane is a school yard with all kinds of activity to satisfy my cats interests. Great tunnels and stairs, great lookouts for them....and the best is that they are safe and sound in their own yard...nothing gets in and nothing gets out. I also had extra fencing put above the cat tunnels from the sister company of Habitat Haven, Purrfect Fence for that added protection. They look awesome. Thanks Habitat Haven and Purrfect Fence for that peace of mind knowing they are happy and most of all safe !!! A big shout out goes to Matt Hough for making my dream come true and designing everything for me. I couldn't have done it without you.
