This is a well designed and produced outdoor cat space. A real quality product, with easy access for help with assembly. It’s also attractive in the yard and so I love it as much as the cat does. I would recommend habitat haven to anyone looking for a way to let the cat outdoors without the risks of harm from local wild creatures. One of my better purchases!
Overall it is great. I don’t understand why the planks are so narrow. We secured 2 planks together so it was roomier for the cats. It’s a shame it does t come with a combination of shelves and planks. We ended up improvising. I tried to buy more but they charge over $300 for shipping. So it was cheaper for us to use a different board of our own. We would love to buy more but not if the shipping is $300 for a $10 item
Thank you for your review! All of our pre-designed catios come with standard 8' wide western red cedar boards. There are options to upgrade to 12' wide boards. We sincerely apologize if our website misquoted you for freight shipping on a small parcel order. The pricing was more than we wanted to pay, but we appreciated the set up and design options and customization to our needs, and that this is made in the USA. I'd rather support manufacturers in this country, and I expect to pay more for that level of quality. It was fairly easy to assemble, after unpacking it, which was a little more difficult. It's packed tight with good padding so nothing moves and gets bent or scratched on the delivery truck.
The staff of Habitat Haven went above and beyond helping me to decide on a design that was within our budget and to answer every question. I must confess that we bought wood locally for the flooring and cut it to the needed length. The floor boards are not from Habitat Haven but are cedar deck planking. Other self-builds we added include using the tools included with the purchase to cut an opening in the catio facing the deck door. We made our own screen insert to keep the bugs out for the cats to go in and out and close the gap between the house and deck door and the catio.
All three cats love going out first thing in the morning and having the freedom of going in and out all day, weather permitting. They beg to go out if it's not open. (They don't use the ramp, so we took it down after these pics.)
Since we just put in a new Trex deck and noticed that the bottom of the catio was scratching it, we also put a rubber mat down as seen in the pics. Not even the strongest wind (gusts over 50 mph) has moved this and it's not attached to anything.
My cats are using towers and tunnels to go from a house window box out to a Purrfect Fence enclosure. They use it 24/7, except for when it rains.
Our two kittens love their lion’s den, from the first moment that we brought them out to the den they have loved exploring and investigating the outdoors. The ordering process was excellent and easy to complete, we live in Canada and we’re very impressed with the rebated shipping into Canada.
